a genesis storyto be blessed and to bless.

has a nice little ring to it, doesn’t it?!
jacob was an honest, hard-working man.
he worked 14 years just to marry the woman he loved!
everything he put his hands to, prospered, and as a result his uncle leban prospered.
jacob’s family grew. leban’s land grew. leban’s flocks grew.
jacob was indeed blessed and being a blessing to his uncle!

i desire that.
i want to bless others without expecting anything in return.
what does it take?
hard work. lots of love. extra grace. mad humility. mucho determination.

but don’t take my word for it.

¢hange for a dollar?!

•January 31, 2008 • 2 Comments

have you ever had someone ask you to break a dollar for them?
maybe they want a gum ball. perhaps they want want to ride the people-mover. still yet, maybe they just happen to prefer quarters to paper.

breaking their bill requires you to give them some ¢hange.
this no doubt is the lesson at hand?!

Jesus loves us too much to allow us remain the same.
He to asks us for ¢hange… but the change he wants isn’t nickles and dimes.
no, he requests growth, maturity and yes, sometimes even death (to a certain part of our life)

so…. why change?!
well, simple really…

because He asks for it! (obediance)
just like a stranger asking you for change, Jesus asks us…
God’s a gentleman. He won’t demand it. the choice is ours.

also

because He wants us to better serve our purpose! (brokenness)
the stranger wants the dollar broken to better serve the purpose of the dollar.
Jesus wants us to be broken to better serve our purpose!

next time someone asks you if you can break their bill
ask yourself what needs to ¢hange in you?! what does God still want to break in you?!

you just got served!

i love people!
today i remembered that ministry often ministers to the minister…

say that reminds me of a little riddle…
how much ministry could a minister administer if a minster could administer ministry?!

but seriously.
when you need lifted up… lift others!

so simple, yet so true
we only get what we give!

inspired by the book of Job
the best thing you can do when your friends are going through some junk is to listen to them…
and if they’re not saying anything… listen to their silence!

we’re so quick to throw in our 2¢ and give the best advise we know how to.
however, when people are going through heartache and are suffering, our advise is probably the last thing they need

we gotta learn how to give our mouth a vacation, and let our company do the job!

building a boat

sometimes i feel loaded down with lots of projects and little time…

i bet noah felt like that…
only times like a billion!

he had a 120 year project to do, and if he didn’t get done in time he was gonna have to bust out his floaties…
i’m sure it was hard, but he kept building…

i guess rather then feeling sorry for myself or being overwhelmed, i should grab some more wood and keep building the darn boat!!!

(bird)ened?!

your burden for the lost is only as great as your prayer life is!

i was thinking about that today while i was driving…
coincidently (or not) i saw a bird flying by… hmm

every time i see a bird magnificently gliding through the air, i will remember that my birden for the lost still is not great enough!
i like to be reminded randomly throughout my day with practical stuff like that…

practicality never killed the cat!

“…don’t let your love grow cold…”
those words were ringing through my head as i read the
giant bluecross/blueshield billboard on the way to work this morning…

ugh…
it’s dang cold outside!
however…

i can’t let my first love grow cold!

if i do… every other relationship suffers, as well as anything else i my hands find to do…

jesus hugs are warm!

theme.

luke 02.39-40
“…When they finished everything required by God in the Law, they returned to Galilee and their own town, Nazareth. There the child grew strong in body and wise in spirit. And the grace of God was on him…”

unfortunately, this is the exact opposite of what happens to most adolescents in today’s society…
if this were a verse about me, it would have read, “there the child increased in his ability to sin and wise in disobedience…”

i want this to be a year where i grow strong in body and wise and spirit.
i desire for the children i impact to do the same!

that’s my theme, and i’m sticking to it!
